Color Assignment

If our whole entire world didn’t have color, what would you do? Well, I guess you wouldn’t even know it existed. But just imagine no vibrant splashes of unique creativeness. You wouldn’t be original. Everything would be the same dull, gray, nothingness color. Life would be boring and uneventful.

            Sameness… Uniformity… Would the word unique even exist? Maybe, but no one would know the real meaning of it. Who would even come up with a rule like this? In the book, “The Giver”, the Elders of the community came up with a rule just like this one. I suppose if you think about it, a lot of feelings and differentness would be extinguished from the community. No jealousy, no bullying, everything is alike. Although this rule would be nice, there are, of course, some downsides. How would you like to have a dreary, colorless life? Personally, it would stink for me. If you saw my room, you would probably describe it as an explosion of color. If I had to choose one color that I would miss it would be all neon colors because they are so vibrant that life would seem almost lifeless without them.

            If you think about it, color is a huge part of society, and it would be a shame to see it go. It represents so much more than just the clothing we wear.
